ABOUT JONATHAN

I have been working as a psychotherapist for over 25 years, with a clinical background that spans addiction, trauma, sexual and emotional abuse, anxiety, depression, and relational difficulty. That breadth of experience has given me a deep understanding of how people suffer and more importantly, how they heal.

In recent years my work has become increasingly focused on Internal Family Systems (IFS).. an approach I find both clinically powerful and genuinely transformative for clients. IFS understands the mind as made up of many parts, each with its own perspective, history, and way of trying to help. The inner critic. The part that drinks too much. The one that shuts down in relationships. The part that has been carrying grief or shame for decades. Rather than fighting these parts, IFS helps you get to know them and in doing so, something fundamental shifts.

Alongside IFS I draw on Relational Life Therapy (RLT), which brings a valuable relational dimension to the work particularly for those navigating the space between their inner world and their closest relationships.

I work with people from all walks of life, including professionals, executives and high-achieving individuals who want more than surface-level support, people who have often spent years managing rather than resolving, and who are ready for something that gets to the root.

My practice is grounded in warmth, discretion and respect for the courage it takes to begin this kind of work. I don't offer advice or tell you what to do. I offer genuine curiosity, clinical depth, and a space in which something authentic can happen.

Training & Background

I have been practising as a psychotherapist since 1998, when I completed a Diploma in Integrative Psychosynthesis: a depth-oriented, humanistic training that has remained the foundation of my clinical work ever since.

In 2012 I completed a Master's degree in Forensic Psychology at the University of Leicester, bringing a rigorous psychological framework to my understanding of complex presentations, trauma, and human behaviour under pressure. I am a Graduate Member of the British Psychological Society.

I have undertaken advanced training (levels 1, 2 and 3 and continued CPD) in Internal Family Systems through the IFS Institute.. the body founded by IFS developer Dr Richard Schwartz and my work is further informed by Relational Life Therapy, developed by Terry Real.

I engage in regular clinical supervision, my own IFS therapy and continuing professional development, which I regard as an essential and ongoing part of responsible practice.

Getting Started

If you'd like to explore whether working together might be right for you, I'd be glad to have an initial conversation: no obligation, no pressure.

"I regard myself as warm, relational, compassionate and creative. I facilitate and guide, and ask questions to help you find your way."
